Pricing methodology
· By the CSNetWorth team
CSNetWorth's inventory total is an estimate: the sum, over every priced item, of quantity × the item's cached Steam Market lowest listing price (or its median price when no lowest listing is cached), in USD.
The formula
estimated total = Σ quantity × (lowest_price ?? median_price)
over items that have a cached price- quantity — identical items are grouped and counted.
- lowest_price — the cached lowest Steam Community Market listing for that exact item name.
- median_price — used only when no lowest price is cached.
Which items are included
- Items in a public Steam inventory for Counter-Strike 2 (Steam app 730).
- Only items Steam marks as marketable.
- Other games, Steam game licences and Steam Wallet balance are not included.
Missing prices
If an item has no cached price, it is shown with "—" and excluded from the total. That does not mean it is worth nothing. The inventory page shows how many unique items are priced, so you can see when the total is only a partial subtotal. Missing items are queued so a price can be looked up later.
How fresh the prices are
Prices are read from CSNetWorth's cache of Steam Market data, not fetched live for every visit. The cache is refreshed gradually, so different items were last updated at different times — some recently, some much longer ago. On each inventory page we show when the oldest price used in that total was fetched, and flag it when that is more than 24 hours old. Fetched inventories themselves are cached for about 10 minutes.
What the estimate does not account for
- Float value within a wear range, pattern seeds, applied stickers or name tags.
- Steam fees, and the fact that Steam Wallet funds cannot be cashed out — see Market value vs. cash value.
- Whether there are enough buyers to sell at that price.
- Prices on other marketplaces.
When the estimate is incomplete
- Some items have no cached price (the priced count is below the item count).
- The oldest price used is more than 24 hours old.
- Steam was rate limiting or unavailable and an older cached inventory was shown.
